Maybe, partman-partitioning suffers from a similar problem? It fails to migrate to testing for weeks, due to being uninstallable on i386. Because of unmet dependencies, but I fail to see which one; ftpmasters didn't answer yet. Do we need to exclude i386 from installer packages?
