Comments/Problems:

Since the machine had no CDROM, i took an old one and tried that. The
installer couldn't find it, and loading the drivers by hand didn't work
either. Could be that the drive was broken, so I left that and tried to
install over the net.
This worked really cool, and everything went smooth until nearly the end
of the base system install. /target/var/log/baseinstall.log said there
have been problems with installing/configuring lilo. It also said that
it couldn't find sleep, which it obviously wanted to execute. sleep
wasn't in the path (only in /target/bin/sleep but not /bin/sleep) and
debootstrap therefore died. I didn't try to resolve the issue, for it's
rather late today. gonna try again tomorrow.
I think the main issue was the nonexistance of sleep. but I didn't
really look inside.

Hope that helps
Markus
