Package: installation-reports
Debian-installer-version: I used the daily build 2004-08-06 sarge-i386-netinst.iso,
md5sum 6b57dcc199c0a04ca143b998b2a0fa56. The boot-screen tells me "2004-08-04",
debian installer tells me "Debian GNU/Linux testing "Sarge" - Official NetInst
Snapshot i386 Binary-1 (20040805)" -- this was somehow confusing.

Comments/Problems:
(In chronological order)
The CD-Rom-detection complained about not being able to load a module for the ethernet
adapter (8139too), told me that the module might be available later (which was right,
fortunately).
Network-hardware Setup then showed me a list of modules to be loaded, "8139too" and
"floppy".
But the latter is certainly not a network device ;-)
May the reason be that this machine (Laptop) has no floppy ?
# modprobe floppy
FATAL: Error inserting floppy
(/lib/modules/2.6.7-1-386/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.ko): No such device
My machine froze on the first reboot because the special kernel options i gave during
the installer boot were not set ("noapic nolapic"). One should at least be warned of
this behaviour.
"configuration of apt": I had to enter the debian package repository again, the
settings of the 1st-stage installer seemed to be forgotten.
The package mozilla-xft was not installed by default (I selected "Desktop" as a task
for the machine), so the fonts in mozilla (and galeon, too) looked really really ugly.
Aside from this everything went incredibly smooth and easy, the new installer is
impressive.
