When I have the 'song change' plugin enabled, xmms segfaults randomly
during a song change, regardless of whether I have effects plugins enabled
or what output plugin I'm using (i.e. with both OSS and xmms-crossfade
configured to OSS).

Unfortunately, I can only suspect that it's the song change plugin because
xmms' own crash reporting is so horrible (I mean, they trap the signal and
everything, but they don't do anything to indicate where the signal is
generated from, how nice of them), but turning off the song change plugin
seems to prevent this.

My current (working) configuration is attached; note that it's setup to use
xmms-compress (available from
http://trikuare.cx/~magenta/projects/xmms-compress.html) and I have song
change disabled. I also have the following xmms-related packages
installed:

ii xmmsarts 0.4-21 aRts Output plugin for xmms

I don't know whether the crash is related to the format of the file being
played; my playlist often gets polluted with random .txt files and so on,
but it happens so frequently that I'm pretty sure it's only happening with
MP3 files. (I only have like one OGG in my entire collection, and none of
those other various formats which I have the plugins installed for are in
the playlist.)

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
