Greetings,
The latest version of postfix assumes that it can create device nodes
(which it tries to do for /dev/random and /dev/urandom using tar). It
is not always the case that this is permitted in the environment in
which postfix is installed. fe: When installed under a Linux VServer.
It would be nice for there to be a note about this change in
requirements for Postfix's chroot creation. Additionally, in order to
allow the admin to deal with the situation, the Postfix init.d should
first check if the devices exist and if so then not try to create
them. Additionally, it should survive not being able to create them
(at the moment it fails out rather nastily).
Thanks!
Stephen
