I've uploaded 0.75.0-1 to experimental - with the symlink in. 

g1pi, you might be interested - wtmpdb patched to use /var/log, as it
always should have, and your symlink suggestion in place.

Pretty much all the changes since trixie are geared towards fixing this
rotation mess or are dropping my patches adopted upstream, so I think
there might be a good case for rebuilding this version rather than
cherry-picking basically everything...

I'm afraid that before we went into hard freeze, as a key package, I
wasn't confident about fixing this finally and properly in time.
