glib2.0 builds ok in testing (with bintuils 2.45.50.20251209-1) but
not when I use binutils 2.45.50.20260119-1.

This is blocking a CVE fix for glib2.0 from being buildable in Ubuntu
resolute-proposed. I agree that an upload that causes multiple
packages to fail to build should clearly be seen as a regression and
RC.

This build issue appears to not affect every architecture. See
https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=glib2.0&suite=experimental
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/2.86.3-4ubuntu1

Here is a build log excerpt. I built using sbuild -j1 to make it more
clear where exactly the build failure is.

[494/1788] /usr/bin/cc -Wl,-z,noexecstack -r -Wl,-b,binary -nostdlib
gio/tests/test5.gresource -o gio/tests/test_resources.o

Thank you,
