Yes, see the bug I referenced in the original bug report. It contains the developers' discussion on addressing this flaw properly. As you could see, it's not trivial. The only way to make it work correctly is
to make gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs depend on libgnomevfs2-extra.
As I said, touch the file *only if it exists*. It's a temporary workaround. We should
also try to make this registry system-wide in the future, so that we can trigger a rebuild.
I guess the GStreamer guys should deal with this. What you're saying does make sense but I'm not sure GStreamer currently supports it.
Today it's a problem for HTTP, tomorrow it will be for DNS-SD which is getting more and more widespread, and whatnot. Where do we set the line?
Right now, I'm just addressing specific packages which provide optional shared objects for GStreamer plugins.
