No, it was system-wide in the past already; this was removed in favor of per-user registry. I think it's a good goal to provide out of the box support for HTTP in GnomeVFS if you look at the number of consumers (viewers launched by browsers to handle remote http:// files, music players to play remote playlists or web radios, applets pulling remote information, it's really aplenty). I don't know of any app using GnomeVFS' DNS-SD support, but then I don't use it either. -- Loïc Minier
