Speaking as a member of the Aegis development team I can assure the upstream project is in good shape.
After almost two years of hard work Peter Miller has just (2008/03/09) released v. 4.24. As a Debian user I'm a bit worried that the project I contribute to using Debian (and others develops on Debian or derivatives) will be removed due to a busy maintainer.
