thanks

Hi,

just run over this bug in Etch when migrating a web from Apache 1.3 on
Sarge to Apache 2.2 on Etch... Took me two hours to find out what's
wrong and I only figured it out because I started looking through
Debian bug reports (finding this one) and not only the Embperl ML and
Google. :-/

So here is a little bit of food for the search engines since they only
find this thread on the Embperl user mailing list whose "solution" was
to not use the package but build Embperl locally:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/perl-embperl/200501.mbox/[EMAIL
PROTECTED]

The error on Etch looks like this in the error log:

[Thu Mar 27 14:12:32 2008] [notice] Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) Embperl/2.2.0
mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c mod_perl/2.0.2 Perl/v5.8.8 configured -- resuming
normal operations
[Thu Mar 27 14:12:42 2008] [error] [22439]ERR: 24: Error in Perl code: Can't
call method "component" on an undefined value at /usr/lib/perl5/Embperl/App.pm
line 58.\n
[Thu Mar 27 14:12:42 2008] [error] [22439]ERR: 61: : Unknown recipe 'Embperl'
[Thu Mar 27 14:12:42 2008] [error] [client 192.33.96.77] Can't call method
"log_file_start_pos" on an undefined value at /usr/lib/perl5/Embperl/App.pm
line 81.\n

BTW: Another "solution" is to use the CGI version of Embperl (a2enmod
actions; a2dismod perl).

                Kind regards, Axel Beckert
