AFAIK, there has been discussion on some list. Of course, those
interested in changing this feature participated more actively, so 
maybe one can get the impression that a majority of users don't like 
this default behaviour.

Personally, I don't comment on this. But maybe we should try to
treat changes to the default behaviour more thoroughly before we go
ahead and implement it in future.
