This looks like a useless option to me. Your use case is rather odd. Why are you removing the configurations files prior to running to dpkg? If you already have your own custom script to manage configuration files, you can certainly find a way to handle everything that doesn't involve having to remove all the configuration files, reinstall them with dpkg, removing/changing some again. What am I missing?
