I have reposted an improved version of this reply to debian-project and debian-vote, in response to the proposed GR, since I think the TC work has concluded and that's now the appropriate forum for the conversation. We can keep talking about it here if that seems like a good idea for some reason that I'm missing, but it may be best to respond there instead to make it easier for those following the proposed GR discussion to see.
