There are two aspects of #766708 that I asked for: 1) Reinstantiate the alternative method for jessie, because it was tested extensively and many people reported that it works for them. 2) Reinstantiate the alternative method in sid until jessie is released, because bugs with the supported method cannot be fixed without disturbing the freeze. The second point has been practically eliminated by Matthias addressing issues with the supported method quickly (despite the freeze) and by the upload of src:cross-gcc. Once dpkg-cross gets uploaded, we therefore have both methods working in sid/experimental. Until then, patches are available. The ctte has practically declined the first point by waiting. At this time there is no way to make either method work well in jessie. Despite all the hard work in the past year, jessie will just be utterly broken wrt. cross toolchains using either method. What I am arguing is that there no longer is anything to handle for #766708. Helmut -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
