But if I decide not to install libreadline2-altdev am I expected to have ldconfig generate a few pages of error messages henceforth? Why shouldn't the system be kept in a sane state at all times (especially since the -altdev packages are not required)? It is mighty disconcerting for newbie admins to see so many error messages. -- Christopher J.
