fwiw, I am very happy that my last two NEW packages went through on the same day of my upload, that's a totally positive experience that was totally unheard of with the old organization of NEW processing.

Thats wrong.
I agree with Ganneff here: what Marc wrote is wrong. It happened to me *many* times that some of my packages were processed by the FTP team the same day, sometimes the same hour.

But to be completely transparent: since 2014, I learned how to completely ignore the FTP NEW queue, and get it away from my brain. And you know what? Well, since that time, I *never* considered that the NEW queue was an issue. Ever again.

The NEW queue waiting time is a stress we impose on ourselves. But in reality, it's super rare that this is a real grave problem.

Don't get me wrong: it's nice that it is faster now. But it still is my opinion that the issue of the waiting time was overstated for no valid reasons. It wasn't such a big deal. It still isn't.

I disagree. I'm very impressed with the efficiency and speed of the new DFSG team and their work only motivated me to work on more packages. It used to be a pain to package something into Debian with a lot of dependencies in the pre-DFSG team era as some packages took me a few months to get accepted into unstable. The new DFSG team is very quick with their feedback and I can address their comments very quickly and reupload if necessary, sometimes all within a day.
