what exactly is the problem?

it is (transition from the custom KDEDIRS setup, to using desktop-profiles
was bug #1005 which was closed this summer)
more particularily the debian-edu-config package:
- depends on desktop-profiles
- drops the required metadata file pointing to its profiles
into /etc/desktop-profiles
> Someone needs to work on that, so we need some volunteers.
looking a bit closer, the metadata file currently tells desktop-profiles
about the following kde profiles:
- edu-common
- edu-net-kde2
- edu-net-kde3
- edu-ltsp
all of which point are located in /usr/share/debian-edu/, and which are
stacked (from hight to low priority): edu-ltsp->edu-net->edu-common
Looking in share/debian-edu/ I now also see a badly named
profile 'kde-profile' (this is the kiosk stuff being worked on I assume?
It's missing a description in the README)
So answering my own question above, and raising some new ones it seems that:
1) we're missing meta-data for 1 profile
-> where in the stack should kde-profile be placed by default?
-> kde-profile should be renamed edu-kiosk I think?
2) I think we can drop the edu-net-kde2 profile?
3) the README in debian-edu-config needs to get a description of what
kde-profile does
I'll make those changes in svn pronto If somebody can answer me the
questions I asked above
