Dear list,

are there plans or documentations in Debian[Edu] to use
UUIDs instead of device names in fstab?

http://debian-user.blogspot.com/2007/05/uuid-instead-of-devsda1.html

This could help to be resistent against renaming of hard discs after
upgrading the kernel.

It might have a backdraw (like mapping the ethX devices to MAC
addresses) if anybody replaces hard discs. But I reckon it worth being
mentioned in our manuals.

What do you think?
Regards
Ralf
