I've requested Steve Robbins to arrange to have imlib install
-lgdk_imlib which it currently should be able to, but does not.

If that happens, then gnome-libs might be able to be built against
that.  

In both these cases, I am not the maintainer and cannot do the work
myself.  I assume that the gnome team is happy to drop gnome-libs, in
which case I'll adopt it if necessary.

This is assuming that the new png really has the same source interface
as the old one.  I have no idea if that's true or not.
