For the list - is there a PPPoE client in Debian Live 8? Does one install if it's installed versus being run in live mode?
Is running PPPoE over wifi even plausible? Debian is fair at best on wifi due to licensing requirements that prohibit some software from being freely and broadly distributed. Wifi drivers, for the most part, fit that description. Look for live media that includes "nonfree" in the image name, both Debian and Ubuntu (a Debian derivative).
