Why would be it be a problem to introduce python2.7 as long as python-defaults remains unchanged? If you rule this out and also do not want to patch code for Python 2.6 compat, I guess that you are just justifying a decision to not backport Iceweasel... That said I would very much like to see iceweasel backported. How are you doing it on EDF's side ?
