Hi Riccardo,

There was discussion about this on the mailing list last year, but I don't think it ever got fixed.

Looks like there was an update two weeks ago stating it's fixed now, though:

Hi Riccardo,

You should downgrade the mesa packages to 24.1.6, the last known working version for PowerPC.

Hi,

I want to get OpenGL acceleration working and need it to test things.

I have two candidates: iBook G4 and PowerBook G4. I suppose old iBook G3 which has barely 2d acceleration these days is out of the game :) In the past, the iBook always had trouble, even before updates. I don't remember if glxgears worked or not, but actual applications like browsers did not. The PowerBook G4 instead used to have working OpenGL with an about a year old debian... couldn't upgrade for a long time for various reasons.

according to lspci, they have:

iBook G4: ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 - RV280
PowerBook G4: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 - RV360/370

firmware-amd-graphics is installed

wonder what it is in detail

I have upgraded debian and am running on both 7.0.7 kernel.

My simple test is to run glxgears.

iBook:
LLVM ERROR: Relocation type not implemented yet!
Aborted glxgears

PowerBook:
Error: coudn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual
(and exists)

Any ideas?

Riccardo
