Which team? Have you asked them if they are prepared to be burdened with doing this? Or have they made a statement that they accept this remit?
Being a DPL doesn’t imply that you can act like you did in this case.
Jonathan (C) made it very clear that he took that action as a regular DD, not as DPL. I'm still quite confused by your objection here. If Jonathan (C) had added himself to whichever team you think should have been responsible first, would that have been ok?
