When "tla commit" is called with no arguments and no log message is
present, it normally runs an editor to let you write a log entry on
the spot. If the EDITOR environment variable is not set (the default
on a Debian system), tla complains:
$ tla commit
* no log found, creating one automatically
* (Use "tla make-log" to create a log file.)
arch_run_editor: please set $EDITOR
Upstream tla should probably default to using e.g. vi if EDITOR is not
set; the Debian package should certainly use sensible-editor by default.
Also, after running "tla commit" like this, it creates a log file but
does not remove it after invoking the editor fails. This has the
effect that if the user sets EDITOR appropriately and runs tla commit
again, they are not prompted to edit the log message but instead
commit a revision with an empty log message. This also seems to be
sub-optimal behaviour.
