Simon,

Redmine 6.1.3 (currently in unstable) requires html-pipeline 2.x. It is
not
compatible with html-pipeline 3.x, which I see you recently uploaded to
unstable.

Transitioning redmine to html-pipeline 3.x is non-trivial, and upstream
decided to drop it in the redmine 7.x series in favor of loofah.

https://www.redmine.org/issues/42737

What is the feasibility of downgrading html-pipeline in unstable to 2.x so
that we can get redmine into testing? I noticed that autopkgtest was
failing
before with 2.x and is still failing with 3.x. I assume you tried
upgrading
to the latest version to fix the test failures, but since it is still
failing
could we downgrade it and then I can help you work on fixing the test
failures (assuming that is possible).

Yes, I can revert back to 2.x, it just involves downgrading ruby-task-list
as
well. I can take a look at this tomorrow.

Thank you. Please let me know if you need any help.

Sorry for the delay, this is done now.

That being said, I'd like to explore all options, given the direction
upstream
is taking. Would it be feasible to cherry-pick the patchset moving to
loofah?

It looks like these seven commits are part of the loofah transition:

I haven’t tested it, but I would be surprised if all of these applied cleanly
on 6.1. As a general rule, I don’t like to cherry-pick patches this large as
they can introduce corner case bugs that are hard to catch.

Otherwise, does Redmine 7 require Rails 8? Do you plan on keeping on Redmine
6.1 for now?

Yes, Redmine 7 requires Rails 8.1. Otherwise, I would just package Redmine 7
now.

Makes sense.

Do you have any sense of how many things would break if we upgraded Rails to
8.1?

Something in the neighborhood of 40-50 packages, I'd have to double check.

It would be good to know when we can go back to 3.x.

P.S. I am CCing the list in case anyone else is working on packages that
need a particular version of html-pipeline.

You CCed debian-rust; I assume you meant debian-ruby, so I corrected that.
:)

Yes, thank you. That was indeed a typo and I meant to send it to debian-ruby.

Best regards,
Simon Quigley
