I am trying to get a newsfeed working with suck. Actually, the host itself doesn't need news, but needs to feed it to a UUCP site.
Anyway, I installed suck 3.5.1-1, and I have inn (from bo) installed also. I set up some newsgroups in /var/lib/news/active and in /etc/suck/sucknewsrc. Then I run get-news.inn; it downloads the news okay, but can't send the articles to inn. The /var/log/news/news.notice says Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: SERVER descriptors 256 Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: SERVER outgoing 243 Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: SERVER ccsetup control:12 Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: SERVER lcsetup localconn:14 Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: SERVER rcsetup remconn:4 Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: overview spawned overview:17:proc:30145 Jul 17 23:29:26 yodeller innd: SERVER starting Jul 17 23:29:34 yodeller nnrpd[30169]: localhost connect Jul 17 23:29:34 yodeller nnrpd[30169]: localhost exit articles 0 groups 0 Jul 17 23:29:34 yodeller nnrpd[30169]: localhost times user 0.000 system 0.050 elapsed 0.043 Jul 17 23:29:44 yodeller nnrpd[30176]: localhost connect Jul 17 23:29:44 yodeller innxmit[30175]: localhost ihave failed 480 Transfer permission denied Jul 17 23:29:44 yodeller innxmit[30175]: localhost stats offered 1 accepted 0 refused 0 rejected 0 Jul 17 23:29:44 yodeller nnrpd[30176]: localhost exit articles 0 groups 0 Jul 17 23:29:44 yodeller nnrpd[30176]: localhost times user 0.020 system 0.030 elapsed 0.043 Jul 17 23:29:44 yodeller innxmit[30175]: localhost times user 0.010 system 0.040 elapsed 0.077 The nnrp.access file is the default, which looks like it should be fine. Also, for posts to go through I will have to specify the sucked hosts in my newsfeeds file, right? And the path of the article should stop it being offerred back to the host, right? Does the get-news.inn script handle posting? Once I can get suck working, getting it batched to UUCP shouldn't be too hard. thanks, Hamish -- Hamish Moffatt, StudIEAust [EMAIL PROTECTED] Student, computer science & computer systems engineering. 3rd year, RMIT. http://hamish.home.ml.org/ (PGP key here) CPOM: [***** ] 50% The opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth. --Bohr -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
