I installed the three shadow packages from experimental quite a while ago. I now find that when I try to upgrade them to the latest version of passwd that I get this message:
# dpkg -i /debian/passwd_961025-2.deb dpkg: regarding /debian/passwd_961025-2.deb containing passwd: passwd conflicts with shadow-passwd shadow-passwd (version 960810-1) is installed. dpkg: error processing /debian/passwd_961025-2.deb (--install): conflicting packages - not installing passwd Errors were encountered while processing: /debian/passwd_961025-2.deb And when I try and uninstall shadow-passwd it is of course a required package. Is there a nice way to overcome this which won't end up with duplicate packages installed? # dpkg -r shadow-passwd dpkg: error processing shadow-passwd (--remove): This is an essential package - it should not be removed.
