Yes. That is, there's a more up to date jdk package (with a different and to my way of thinking better organization) in hamm, and last I checked Sun wasn't releasing any java stuff for linux - the linux-java things are ported from the Sun reference implementation. This means there is always a delay beyond the normal packaging delay as a new release is first ported to Linux, and then packaged for Debian.
