There is tar.exe ==== tar for dos.
You can create a multi volume tar archive with tar for dos and then untar
it on your linux machine. I do not remember where I got tar.exe from
though... Maybe there is such a thing as gnu-tar for dos...
It is not much, but maybe it helps...
