I just installed Debian 2.2 on an 386 20 mhz deskpro w/10 mb of ram. I found the install was slow and very slow to boot up, but with a custom kernel it boots much faster and the performance of the system is significantely increased. At <http://www.linuxdoc.org>, under mini-HOWTO's there is one dealy with low memory.
