I too have a D-Link DFE530tx and I'm using the scyld driver. I'm no kernel compile Guru, what errors did you get ? >From memory I think I had to add a "-I/usr/src/linux/include" to the compile command. /usr/src/linux is where the kernel sources are on my machine.
The deb package I've used for the source is kernel-source-2.2.17 and then unpacked the kernel-source-2.2.17.tar.bz2 file. Dont forget to get and compile the pci-scan package from scyld also. Hope this is of some help.
