On a 2.4 GHz i7-4700MQ laptop with 16 GB of RAM (sorry Stan!), "make
deb-pkg" using an unmodified distribution config takes about 55
minutes.

IIRC, on a netbook's Atom (I've forgotten the exact processor, but it
was a second generation Acer netbook), the same compilation took 6 or
7 hours.
