I clicked on to the github repo linked to in that wikipedia page (which also says that the latest release was on August 21 2025, which isn't too bad). Latest commit is the day after that, i.e. August 22 2025, and was a fix for a JPEG crash. So xv doesn't seem to be entirely dead...?
