I've been having a similar problem, with ubuntu (which reports itself as a hybrid trixie/sid configuration) in my case so maybe not relevant. In my case, there seems to be a problem with nvidia support in newer kernels. I find that I have to boot up using the 6.8.0-87-generic kernel instead of the newer 6.14.0-1015-oem kernel. I've tried various kernels that lie between these two extremes with no luck. As I don't have time to spare to experiment more, I simply choose the right kernel at boot time via grub.
