You are mistaken - there is a "discussions" tab right there next to the issues tab, for the purpose of asking questions. Also the author has already posted in this thread inviting questions, here or there. Non-users and non-contributors of this software seem really keen to tell me how hard my life is going to be, but at the moment I'm doing okay. Meanwhile I am banging my head against the wall trying to get anyone to respond about 10+ year old bugs in more conventionally developed free software that is used by almost everyone on this list.
