Hello everyone,
Do you know if there is any particular reason why mesa-amber drivers
(for Xorg) are not present in Debian distributions? (not only in stable,
last time I checked no version, not even experimental, has packages with
mesa-amber, unless named exotically...)
These drivers are available, for instance, in Arch:
https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/mesa-amber/
or Ubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa-amber/21.3.9-0ubuntu5
probably in other systems, too.
I have just compiled the source packages from Ubuntu on Debian 13
(stable) and they are working _fine_ (just lacking environment variables
setting properly the drivers, I had to add manually configuration for
setting them while opening a new session).
The lack of mesa-amber drivers in Debian seriously cripples older boxes,
leaving their GPUs unused and stressing CPUs with rendering even
simplest graphics.
Do you know of there are any plans to change that and add these drivers?
Cheers,
Tomasz
