I'd also suggest relaxing your criteria to include hackerspaces and
"men's sheds"¹ as they are a good place to find people who use Linux and
that are generally happy to help. Dedicated Linux groups that actually
still have regular face to face meetings are quite rare nowadays.

Thanks,

¹ I dislike the name but the brand has a fair bit of momentum, at least
here in UK and in Australia. No idea if that's the case in the US.

Also, Mens Sheds has a name that involves gender based segregation, and, sounds like gay bars for picking up such people.

And, females are quite helpful, regarding Linux; for example, on the Ubuntu Users list, is a person who uses the pseudonym Little Girl, who is a very helpful and knowledgeable person.

The limitation of interest to Debian related user groups, is a self imposed limitation on what help may be available.

On the Ubuntu Users list, are people quite knowledgeable regarding Debian, and, who are also, quite helpful.

And, whilst the content seems to have been deleted from the wiki, the previous duckduckgo search that I mentioned, had in the results returned, this;

Do you have a local Linux User Group (LUG) in your area? Let us know and we will list it here. Get involved with your LUG -- it is a great way to meet fellow Linux users. While you're there, let them know about Missouri Team! Organize an installfest in your home town. Invite fellow Missouri Team members -- LUGers love nothing better
"

Of course, if you are genuinely interested in a LUG in Springfield, Missouri, and cannot find one, you could always become proactive, and implement actions such as starting a mailing list at groups.io, for Linux Users in Springfield, Missouri (try doing a search at groups.io , for "linux user group", and, create a free mailing list after viewing the search results there, and, going to the universities (I believe they are named Colleges, in the USA)) in the area, and, finding the computer science and ICT (academic departments, and, institutional technical support departments, both), and, posting on any visible noticeboards (after obtaining permission, if needed), notices inviting people who may be interested in Linux, to subscribe to your groups.io mailing list, to discuss the prospect of forming a Localised Linux Users Group.

You may be aware of a movie with the title "Field Of Dreams"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_of_Dreams
which has the proverb "Build It And They Will Come".

Remember, if you are genuinely interested in a Linux Users Group for Springfield, Missouri, the ancient proverb
"A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step".

So, I believe that that is enough information from me, regarding a Linux Users Group for Springfield Missouri.
