Without speaking to the core of the issue here, I will point out that in this analogy, yes, 'we' (wider society) do ban knives when the risk outweighs the benefit. I can think of, off the top of my head, schools, courthouses/government buildings, company workplace locations, polling sites, airports, and bars. > Banning all knives is different than not allowing someone to bring one into a space that has determined that it is inappropriate. It's entirely appropriate for a company to discuss brining knives into work, or for a club to not permit knives in the bouncy house. Paul
