Whilst I appreciate the sentiment behind this being “Debian is not using AI, but external parties to Debian whose software we include in the archive do and we cannot avoid that”, where is the line drawn? Is it any software whose development home is Salsa (in which case, those projects can just move to another forge)? Is it any software that isn’t in the archive (in which case, those projects can just be packaged)? Is it any software that isn’t a non-native package (which includes packages that are only native in packaging format but morally aren’t native)? If this is something to be voted on, I believe there needs to be a clear definition of what this encompasses, and I fear there is no such definition, it’s just a case of “I know it when I see it”. Some cases to think about: * DSA’s various puppet and LDAP scripts * schroot is developed on Salsa but a 3.0 (quilt) package * dh-cmake is developed and packaged on gitlab.kitware.com but a 3.0 (native) package Which of these should count, and what definition are you using to draw that line?
