My fresh install of Debian XFCE freezes around the login screen about half the
time. I think the problem may be with lightdm.

On a freeze, the screen is not updated, mouse and keyboard actions are not
registered, and there seems to be no activity at the USB ports. The only thing
to do is force shutdown with the power button.

The freeze happens either just before, during, or just after the login screen.
I have not been able to reliably cause the freeze. The xession-errors file and
the systemctl output don't seem to capture the event.
What can I do to confirm if lightdm is the problem, and what to do if it is?
