If I may, I would submit that the steep learning curve is at least partially a function of the (lack of / insufficient / not up to date) documentation.

And I'd also say that the minute there's a version of delcude that has it's own built-in SMTP engine with decent logging and LDAP verification of e-mail addresses, it's hasta lavista iMail for us.
