That's a lot of E-mail to be virus scanning. My suggestion, if you are
using Declude Virus Pro, would be to use the "PRESCAN ON" setting in the
\IMail\Declude\virus.cfg file (changing the PRESCAN OFF to PRESCAN ON), if
you haven't done so already.
With PRESCAN set to ON (in the Pro version), Declude Virus will "pre-scan"
E-mail that only has text and/or HTML sections (IE no attachments), and see
if there is any potentially dangerous code (such as Javascript or Active-X
or plugins). If not, it will allow the E-mail to pass through without
being sent to the virus scanner. If Declude Virus does detect potentially
dangerous code, it will send the E-mail to the virus scanner to determine
whether or not a virus is present.
Since a large portion (as much as 80% or so) of E-mail usually has HTML
(which needs to be scanned) but doesn't contain anything that could be
dangerous, this reduces the frequency that the virus scanner needs to be
called, which in turn cuts down on CPU usage.
