I've noticed the following message in my Declude Virus log file:
"WARNING: Could not convert file name; may not be scanning E-mail (did you disable short paths in the registry?)."
The above message appears quite often. Does anyone know how I can fix this? What are the ramifications?
I never disabled short paths in the register nor have I been able to get much info on the subject.
The problem is most likely that the server was somehow set up so that short filenames are no longer supported. You will need to switch it back. To do so, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation registry needs to be set to 0 (the default setting) in order for Windows to support the short file names.
