Hi you, The database you choose woll be hidden from the end - user, between the Db and him lies - your program - Only this will interact with the database. Pruning aroound with SQL will not be the end-user's meat. But there might be other kriteria quite meaningful:
- the price -client only, client/server or both -the integration into Delphi (components) -database Language -ease of installation and mainanance There are quite a few Dbs out there, but I prefer Firebird (Borland's Interbase clone). - free - all three - native Delphi components - SQL -installation of a client-only is just to copy some files. Server has an installation-pgm, takes 2 mins. AND IT RUNS ABSOLUTELY STABLE! Hope, that might help you, happy eastern Bob > > > Hi All, > > I am going to be writing a Program soon and need some suggesstions > for the DB to use. > > I was thinking of using XML as my Data Layer, what other choices do > I have that are easy to use and will not entail having a lot of > knowledge from the users side. > > I was also thinking of SQL Server (MSDE or 2005 Express when it > finally comes out), but decided that there could be too many setup > issues that the user might run into. > > The product needs to be very user friendly when it comes to the DB > setup and use.
