is it running in a background thread? Maybe you should reconfigure it to run as a service?

The client app runs in the system tray. I noticed that when the client app was running it was impossible to log off or shut down; at this point I started to experiment with overriding the form's WndProc without achieving any real success, then discovered that what I thought was the problem (running in the system tray) was something of a red herring since I found that I was also unable to log off from the machine on which the server app runs (don't ask why I didn't try this before trying to fix the client!). I use Delphi 5 and both machines are running Win XP SP3. Since we need the client apps to run 'in the backgroud' from start up on hundreds of client machines, it is essential that users be able to log off and shut down as normal. Does anybody have any idea what the problem might be here? The only common denominator between both server and client app is the UDP component. Thanks as always for any suggestions.
