Jim, I'm sorry that I used a term, "prototype", that was new to you . . . it has just always seemed more accurate than a "definition" because, if you do nothing to expand it, it gets vaporized when you save the file. Also, is a procedure/function declaration is necessarily confined to occurring within a class or type declaration? I was intending to convey precisely that the declaration was occurring within the type/class declaration. (On the other hand, I notice you seem to have no complaints with the other gentleman's terminology not necessarily conforming to "accepted terminology". Oh, well.)
