Sorry, read my email in the wrong order.  Didn't realize that TDateTime 
wasn't working for you.  Ignore my last submission.  What wasn't working 
about
TDateTime?

To answer your first question below, I think it's the Win95 date settings, 
but don't quote me.  :)

In Win95/NT or in the BDE Admin settings?

I've tracked the problem down now to the TQuery is failing to open and
crashing out, problem is, this TQuery is inside a .dll so all I get is
"exception in module calc_multimassflow.dll" and I can't get anything else
out of it :(

The query works perfectly in the Database Desktop, and I cant seem to find
whats wrong....  this is starting to REALLY (*$#&()&$&(* me off as well,
it's most probably a really simple thing I'm missing but I can't spot it at
the moment due to fustration and stuff :()

Pity TDateTime's didn't work in the first place :(
