I have to agree here that this IS the lowest development AND the lowest
hardware requirement.
Local client at headoffice.
1. Database Server:
(IMHO all DB implementations should be CS ;))
2. Client Machine
3. Winframe server (will need modems or other connectivity).
Remote Client:
1. Client Machine with Modem.
- Winframe is pretty much transparent from development perspective.
- Low cost of hardware offsets costs of calls
- It may be possible to configure Winframe for internet use (assuming the
customer already has an inhouse net connection with fixed IP#) allowing
avoidance of the tollcall at the expense of a possible security weakness
and thirdparty (ISP) dependance...
Your other extreme is IP-based multi-tier to a server Database allowing much
more functionality at a huge development and hardware cost...
