Sorry, I'm coming in late on this one....

that Kylix is under threat? Sorry, I'm not buying that one:
Delphi is the best selling Inprise product, AFAIK (JBuilder might outdo it,
but its not been around for long). Kylix is the next version, effectivly, of
Delphi, even if its on Linux and not Windows. Windows - and Delphi for
Windows - is not going away in a hurry tho.
If NOTHING ELSE, Kylix could be a chance for a rethink of the outdated,
poorly designed (in retrospect) VCL, BDE et al. The resulting Windows
versions (6 and on)could end up being more of a step up because of it.
Of course, thats without inside info, so I'm speculating as much as you. :)

Bollicks. Without the technology, you have a .com startup, which are a total
waste of investors time and money, 99% of the time. I agree that cash is
needed for new products, but there _is_ no new product, per-se - Kylix is a
PORT of an "old" product - thats the POINT! Anyone on this list (maybe not
including Ray :) ) should be able to go out and buy a copy of Kylix when its
released, and be up and writing Kylix code in under 24 hours, 'cos it WILL
BE DELPHI, not some new, alien language. Getting used to Linux after being
hand-held in the windows world will be much more of a shock to most.
As for making money - Inprise has been losing money for the last few years,
yes, but there were a lot of cash reserves before that started, and the
loses have been going down ($1m US this year) very stedily.
